This picture book won the Caldecott Award for beautiful illustrations, and it’s easy to see why. These watercolors help tell the story of young Mirette, who works in a boardinghouse with her mother. She meets a new boarder, The Great Bellini, who used to do a world-famous high-wire act, and convinces him to train her. In the end, Mirette helps teach Bellini that the best way to conquer fear is to face it with a friend. This picture book is stunning and heartwarming for all ages.
