Inky’s Great Escape Review

Linda’s review:

My kid is all about true stories and challenging ideas. I try to pick books that fit those categories and this is definitely one of them. The books is loosely based on a real life octopus escape at the National Aquarium of New Zealand. Inky the Octopus, used to live in the ocean where he made daring escapes from every trap he encountered. Then one day, he was ready to retire at a local aquarium. There, he met Blotchy who had never lived anywhere but the aquarium and listens to Inky’s tales with a healthy dollop of skepticism. Blotchy finally gets fed up and challenges Inky to escape the aquarium. Inky starts thinking and planning his escape. Will he make it out? I would definitely pair this with some of our many titles on Octopuses. They are incredibly intelligent creatures. Inky isn’t the first one to make a break for it and he won’t be the last.
