The Rural Diaries was such a good find during a time of uncertainty and stress. Hilarie Burton Morgan’s narration of her life and times is warm, funny, and full of vinegar. From discussing her experiences with toxic work environments at MTV and on One Tree Hill, to sharing difficulties during pregnancy, to describing her journey to finding a place where she truly belongs, Burton Morgan shares her life and life’s work with a mischievous twinkle and a sisterly voice that captivates. Personally, I laughed out loud, cringed a few times, and felt empathy for Burton Morgans’s own heartache and grief, feeling her narrative voice as a kindred spirit. If you need a reminder of how worth it the human search for belonging could someday be, The Rural Diaries will motivate you to keep the faith.
