McCartney III Review

Review by Mike

Fans of McCartney’s more playful, oddball solo releases (1980’s weird-and-wonderful McCartney II comes to mind) will find much to love in McCartney III’s opener “Long Tailed Winter Bird”, a five-minute, one-chord romp that immediately demonstrates that knighthood and decades of accolades haven’t tempered Macca’s quirky musical personality. Like his first two self-titled releases, McCartney performs all the instruments & vocals in his home studio, an apt setting for an album released late in 2020. Other standouts include the eccentric lament to “Lavatory Lil’” and the meditative “Deep Deep Feeling”.
